Careers

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  (Confucius)

The Centre has worked hard over the last year to improve on our previous career’s advice and guidance offer.  We are invested in working with the Local Authority and use the Compass+ Tool kit to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the pupils referred to our provision. Young people are required to stay in some form of education until they are 18 and we endeavour to ensure that all pupils have a post 16 provision in place.

Careers education is predominantly delivered within our PSHCE curriculum and covers labour market information (LMI), information on a variety of ways to study, e.g. apprenticeships, A levels, T levels or vocational courses, tours to further education providers and encounters with employers. We also host an Employability Day, which includes workshops, talks with employers and mock interviews. We also encourage students to create CV’s and offer one-to-one support and guidance with applying for college courses/apprenticeships. Where appropriate, we are also able to facilitate Teams and over the phone interviews with colleges, making it easier for the students to access their interviews.
